Can I buy a “pulse-beat” bear?

No. Pulse-beat bears can be bought on scans from 24 weeks gestation, onwards. Ask the receptionist for more details about this.

Report:

You will be given a printed copy of the ultrasound scan report.

Extra photos/Images from the scan:

More images/photos from the scan, including digital copies, can also be purchased at the reception desk.

Can I take photos in the examination room?

No. During the scan, the Sonographer can print glossy black and white photos from the scan for you, and more copies (including digital copies) can be purchased at the reception desk. However, due to various guidelines stated by the Society of Radiographers (Recording of Images and Clinical Discussions, SOR, 2019), photographs cannot be taken during the examination room at Dragon Ultrasound.

Is ultrasound 100% accurate in identifying the gender during an ultrasound scan?

No, but if baby is in a good position ultrasound has been shown to have an accuracy of close to 99%.

What happens if the Sonographer can’t see the gender because baby is in a difficult position?

We will try various way to get baby to move (asking you to jump, shake or go for fast walk). In the unlikely event that baby still hasn’t changed its position, we will rebook you for a complimentary rescan, by which time baby will be a little bigger (making the picture clearer) and will have hopefully moved.

Can all abnormalities be picked up on an ultrasound scan?

No, but significant problems can sometimes be identified, and ultrasound is particularly useful for checking baby’s size, and whether the amniotic fluids levels are low, average, or high.
