Common reasons for scan?

  • Finding a new lump on the body.

  • A lump which is becoming tender and/or growing in size.

  • Follow-up of an old lump on the body that has been scanned before, to look for changes in size/appearance.

* Groin hernias, lumps on the neck, groin or breast regions, and arteries/veins of the leg/arm are not scanned at Dragon Ultrasound.

What can be checked?

  • The superficial tissue underneath the skin.

  • Lumps can be assessed to see if they have features which may be simple/benign, or if more complex/unusual features are seen, the sonographer will be able to offer advice on what further follow-up may be needed.

Preparation?

  • Access to the skin at the region of the lump is needed.

Report:

  • You will be given a printed copy and/or emailed an electronic copy of the ultrasound scan report.

Images from the scan:

  • Images from the scan can be purchased at the reception desk. Please note: Due to various guidelines stated by the Society of Radiographers (Recording of Images and Clinical Discussions, SOR, 2019), photographs cannot be taken during the examination room at Dragon Ultrasound.
