Common reasons for scan?
Pain at the sides of the elbow (tennis or golfer/elbow epicondylitis).
Lower biceps tears.
Pain at the front and/or back of the elbow.
Ulnar nerve compression.
Olecranon bursitis.
What areas are examined?
Common extensor/flexor tendons.
Distal biceps tendon.
Brachialis tendon.
Triceps tendon.
Cubital tunnel/ulnar nerve.
Elbow joint.
Olecranon fossa.
Preparation?
Access to skin at the front and back of the elbow region is needed, and also to the front of the shoulder. A gown is available for changing into, if required.
Report:
You will be given a printed copy and/or emailed an electronic copy of the ultrasound scan report.

Images from the scan can be purchased at the reception desk. Please note: Due to various guidelines stated by the Society of Radiographers (Recording of Images and Clinical Discussions, SOR, 2019), photographs cannot be taken during the examination room at Dragon Ultrasound.
